The mayor of the town Trinidad, Karen Griego, wanted to wave the green flag for us to get started. She approached me, and said she had been following the trip, had owned a Harley and thought this was the coolest thing. We got a police escort out of town, that was pretty sweet - not going to lie.
At the gas station - this must have been like the second stop- Scott realized he forgot to tighten his tranny from adjusting his chain the night before. He had gone 100 miles with it.
The first mountain pass was absolutely beautiful However, with Mike's bike being a single speed - it all of a sudden just turned off on his way up. Needless to say we took turns pushing it. I am now ashamed by how out of shape I am. But I'm going to just say it was the lack of oxygen. Here are pictures from the pass.
At the begining of the trip I went to use the bathroom. I had worn my "Randy" overalls. I was bundled up. I had a tshirt, long sleeve, sweatshirt and jacket on. Plus warm leggings, the overalls and my rain pants. When I unlacked my overalls one of them fell in the toilet. 😒 I did wash it, but then that was wet.
As we were headed out, there was a storm coming. We ended up riding in rain. It was freezing cold. 46 degrees is the lowest I saw. Even with our raingear we got wet. Next gas station we all got something warm to drink.
The next test was getting over Wolf Creek Pass, the elevation being 10,856 feet. No engine likes this elevation but definitely not these motorcycles. We all did make it over and down. Right before we did that pass this was our view
Luckily we were headed to the left of that sky, still running into rain - but not as bad as it could have been.

Once we made it down the mountain, I think we all sighed with relief. Interestingly, at the gas station, we saw a fellow Minnesotan. We saw Caleb Spooner who is the editor of the AMCA Vikings Chapter Newsletter. What a small world!
We made it through the rest of the ride and got to Durango Harley Davidson, who hosted us. We made the 272 miles for the day but it challenged our bikes and our bodies
Luckily there wasn't took much to do except our maintenance.
Larry was talking like this - it was extremely creepy.
The gaskets from Mike's bike. Very thin and has holes in them.
The cool looking clouds from our hotel
I take really good pictures. Send to Randy so he knows I'm still rocking his look.
Oh and the views were BREATHTAKING. Of course the one day I forget my insta 360 is today, with all the amazing views
280 miles tomorrow for Moab, UT
