As we were getting ready to leave Arkadelphia, AR Larrys bike wouldn’t start. We soon figured out that he had left his key on all night. They decided to jump it with Mikes bike and got it going. Then low and behold Mikes bike wouldn’t start again… but Cannonball brain is real and Mike forgot to reconnect his wires. He connected them and all was good. Lesson learned?
When Larry took off apparently he had his goggles on his helmet and they flew off. So once again there was a Cannonball yard sale behind Larry. This time they did stop and go get the goggles.
**Wednesday night JJ (one of the photographers) said that he is just going to follow Mike and Larry with a fishing net to catch all their flying objects. **
During the support crews drive to Nacogdoches, TX we made many stops. We were looking for spark plugs, tube for a wheel, and a chain. Plus some other miscellaneous things you will see later on. Much of the drive was spent in Louisiana and we grabbed some food at BeauxJacks. Very delicious!
Mom heard from Mike he said he almost got sweeper up by the sweeper. Apparently he lost a nut for his clutch and it wasn’t working. As him and Larry were “fixing” the issue Mikes bike tipped over, not once but twice. 😳😳 Apparently it was uneven ground and so as they were working on it it just kept tipping. There is definitely some scrapes on the paint and a broken mirror. I offered to remove the mirror but he said he could still use it. So to save whoever would be behind him, I at least taped the glass so it hopefully won’t fall off.
Also during this day Larry somehow managed to hit Mikes arm with his mirror driving… this is why I was supposed to be on the ride… to keep these guys in line. Haha.
They made their miles and made it to Nacogdoches, TX. The Lumberjack Harley Davidson was there at the finish line and actually had lifts. Mike has been needing to refill his tire quite frequently so we had planned on changing it anyway, but this would make it easier- ya know verses being on the pavement.
Mom and Mary ran back to the hotel to get the tube. We started taking off the back tire. We got it off and Connor and Jared helped replace it. But unfortunately this new one also had a hole. Mom raced to the Harley Dealership to get more tubes. Mike, Larry, Conner and me for moral support tried changing the tube but you guessed it… it happened again. So now we were going to load up the bike and get it to the Harley dealership because they have machines for tires. Unfortunately the one tube we had left wasn’t in the van and we missed the opportunity due to the dealership closing for the night. We cut our loses and Mike is riding with a slightly leaky tire, but better than not riding.
Now it’s Friday morning and it was chaos this morning- which somehow it always is. Just getting things going and set for the day. I headed to the start because it takes me longer and then I can help with the route charts. Mike realized he didn’t have his badge that I had handed him the night prior. Luckily, I had mine and he was able to get his chart anyway, while mom looked for his. She found it! Actually I think Cindy did?
Then Larry couldn’t get his bike started- so Mike had to go back and jump it. But they got checked in and are one their way to Victoria, TX. We are looking for a battery today as support crew!
