The final day of The Cross Country Chase

Well the guys made it!!  I am sorry it took so long to write this post, I really should just say this about the whole blog. My bad.

Anyway, I've been busy and haven't had the opportunity to get all the pictures together.

It was HOT!! You'd walk outside and you would be sweating. Jerry won 1st place in Class 3!! But all three made it safely to Key West with just minor problems.

Found this picture taken by Michael Lichter of Jerry at one of the check points!

As you can tell the guys had a great time and enjoyed their time on the road. I think they are happy to be home, they definitely were exhausted. Coming back to reality probably isn't easy and takes a little while to adjust. Cheers to another successful motorcycle event. Now to start preparing for the Motorcycle Cannonball happening September 2020! Mike and Larry with be riding in that! I am sure we will have a blog on that which will be more entertaining I am sure, I plan on being on the trip.

Thanks everyone!

Leaving Tallahassee, thank you to Jerry for posting pictures on facebook (photo credit)

Saturday

Lakeland, FL to Miami, FL

I did get a slight update today. yay! We will start with the wives. Mom, Mary and Deb flew out to Key West today. Mary and Deb went through security about 5 minutes before Mom did. If you don't know Mary and Mom have the same last name...Butts. Mom's going through and the security guard is like "wait, haven't you already gone through?" And of course Mom is like, no? (what the heck is this dude talking about?)  He's like "I swear I already saw a Butts go through". First of all, lets just talk about how funny that sentence is, 'I already saw a Butts go through'. Mom told him, that her sister in law had gone through security and they were traveling together.

Oh by the way, I am on the phone with Mom when she is telling me this story. You can only imagine this. Mary then tries to tell Mom what she experienced through security with this same guard. But then ends up taking the phone and talking to me. "Hi sweet girl how are you?"  I guess Deb went through security first, and she has a Wisconsin license and one of those fancy new enhanced or fancy ones. The guard had said something about it being her fake ID. And of course Mary being as witty as she is said something about "you have to be careful about those quiet ones, they are the trouble makers!" The security guard responds with, "oh I know, I'm a quiet one." 😂 Oh just the entertainment.

Then I was reminded that I am being set up on a date with Jerry's son Josh. Mary thinks this is a match made in heaven, or something like that. It is Mary's life goal (I am starting to believe) to find me a husband. The whole Cannonball she would walk around and that was HER pick up line for starting a conversation..."so my niece is with me and she's single..." Anyway, it has now just changed to an arranged marriage so that we (Josh and I) don't get a say in it. I had said okay, and they all were very excited about this, and like "did you hear that?!? she said okay!!!" Then some how it turned to think of it as like an arranged marriage. Oh, thats a great idea, lets just do that. She doesn't want to disappoint her parents. I mean, I wish I could say I dislike it, but I don't, how could you when you know they just want you to be happy?

Alright--enough about that. Now on to the motorcycles. Today's ride went good. At the Miami Harley Davidson (the last stop, and a picture toward the end) they had jambalaya that was good, then it rained for the 12 mile drive from the hotel. (so Mike told me). However, I had just talked to mom, and how she said he described it was "it rained so hard at the end of the ride today, they couldn't see the road." I of course asked him if that was true, and he said "yup". (see what I'm dealing with here, Folks?)  At this dealership they had a big band. They also had a contest for the women who dressed up in like 50s wear, like sock hop almost. Both him and I can't think of what it is call. But if you go to back to the fifties car show in Minnesota, it's like that. Or if you watch my all time FAVORITE movie, Grease.

I guess they got kicked out of their hotel and had to move to a not as nice of a place because the national guard needed their original hotel for hurricane stuff which kind of blows. I mean you get it, but kind of a bummer they have to go to a crappy one.

"Bikes ran good, saw a crocodile in the Everglades, a lot of wildlife, birds and stuff. " (Direct quote from Mike, ladies and gentlemen).

They were going down a highway that had several ares of caution signs of Panthers crossing. They didn't see any of course. I did ask if he called out for them like Mary and I called out for the Moose. (I laughed at this thinking I was hilarious...ya...he didn't respond to that-- we were texting but still).

Leaving Lakeland to go to Miami, Steve and Jerry (again photo credit to Jerry -- well he posted it)

Photo credit: Mike... Miami Harley Dealership. If you look close you can see Kelly (fellow Cannonballer who is one of the nicest people ever!) He came down from Kansas to get his bike from a different rider's house (they had gone to Europe for a ride) to get his bike that was shipped back from Europe. Kelly is going to ride with the Chase tomorrow. Then ride the bike home.

Cross Country Chase Wives!!  Deb, Mom and Mary! Made it to Key West

Mom sent this to me, even though Mary said she couldn't because I'm not a bitch. So...does this mean Mary thinks my mom is a bitch? haha

And some other wonderful t-shirts the ladies sent me -- to remind me I have to work all weekend as they are on vacation. Key West really knows how to make t-shirts.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is the last day! They have almost made it!!  Holy Moly Batman! I am exhausted for them. But heck, they should be so proud and sleep for a week. Check out themotorcyclechase.com or their facebook page to keep up to date for live footage (should have included that long ago, my bad). However, I will update this at least once more. But it won't come as fast as facebook (obvi) for the Chase. I have no idea how they are getting their bikes back to Minnesota/Wisconsin but I'm sure they have some type of plan. Any who- hopefully they all survive one more day and no more torrential rain!
