Today, Mike and Linda took out the bike for a rest run. She race like a beaut. Mike may have gotten lost, but he found his way. I sure hope this isn't a precursor for the rest of the runs. I hope he figures out how to read this directions. I have looked at them, they are pretty challenging.
Luckily, he got this run in before a big storm rolled in. Some person, I personally am not sure who this person is, came around and told us that there was going to be strong winds with rain and possible hail coming through within 30 minutes. So, what do we do? We wait. But by golly the weathermen were right and the winds started to pick up. Our neighbors, "Skeeter", he was away and his canopy started picking up height. We ended up taking it down for him. I wanted to leave him a note because I was concerned that he would be concerned that someone took it. But we didn't have anything to do this with. Anyway, we were just dilly-dallying watching our Irish friend John work. Eventually it ended up sprinkling. But then...it was like the dam broke and all hell was let loose. It was full on pouring.
Mandatory lunch break I suppose. We did learn that here in Maine, the drink Arnie Palmer is called a Caddy Cooler. Say what?!? For the record, it did not taste as good as at home, whether this is a Maine thing or a restaurant thing, I'm unsure of.
From the perspective of Mom and me (Sorry everyone, it's really hard to call her Linda), Mike seems like there is a lot going on in his head. Reasonably so of course. But we are trying to help get him organized and be prepared on the road if anything happens, but it has its challenges. You get started on one track and 3.3 seconds later he's on another track and you try to reel him back in. We still got things accomplished and completed, surprisingly (and many people will probably disagree with this) mom and I are quite patient.
Another really cool thing that I personally know made Mike happy and excited was that his brothers, Steve and Larry, and sister-in-law, Cindy, showed up!! He kept saying things like "when Steve and Larry get here..". If you haven't met or been around these three brothers, well you should because it can be quite entertaining. For me personally it was exciting to see them all together talking bikes and Steve and Larry being supportive of Mike. They truly bond over motorcycles, which to me is very enduring. Plus walking around the parking lot all three of them are just engrossed in all these sweet bikes. It seems to truly fun and exciting for them.
I know that I can speak for Mike in saying that the outreach from all the family and friends from back home wishing him (and us) safe travels and good luck has been immensely appreciated. We have a long journey ahead of us, especially Mike but we look forward to getting on each others nerves and laughing about it minutes later.
Here is a great picture of Mike and his bike "Niny" named after his mother who recently passed away. This is a repeat picture if you follow me, Mike or Linda (yay, go me, I called her Linda for you guys) on facebook/instagram.
Ain't she puuuuuurty?
