1st Minnesota Rider In The Motorcycle Cannonball - 2018

Mike and Linda Butts are embarking on an adventure of a lifetime participating in the Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Race, September 8th - September 23th, 2018, from Portland Maine to Portland Oregon.

All motorcycles must be at least 90 years old; Mike will be riding a 1927 Harley Davidson JD.  But the race is not only about riding 3,674 miles across the country.

It's about being able to fix it with the tools on your back and then redoing stuff with your support crew at night.  The bikes may go only 40 mph, so they are traveling backroads.  The riders need to know how many miles you can get on your gas tank, how much oil to you need, when are the pit stops, etc. Also, the riders get their route each day first thing in the morning - no ahead planning for the day.  There is so much to this run!

We will be providing updates and pictures as we go.  This is a map of the cities/route we will be taking.

And lastly, thank you to all of our family and friends who have supported us in getting this far in preparation for the big race.  Here's a little movie for the prep of the Cannonball:

  1. Are you carrying a patch kit and tire irons? Slime? Tools to fit every nut, bolt and screw? Spoke wrench? Duct Tape? Wire, replacement bulbs?

    Good Luck!
