Our ride went really well. The scenery was great. Some very nice curvy roads.
I do have to say that Scott is a fantastic leader. As much crap as I give him throughout the day, if we are approaching an intersection or stop light he will signal if Mike needs to slow down or if it’s good to go. (all these bikes are hard to get going, but his especially) Usually Scott would make it more challenging for himself by doing this, but helping the group.
We had to take this detour right at the end of the route and it was terrible. Stupid drivers - and hills and having to stop. I was EXTREMELY proud of myself that I didn't kill it. I am feeling more and more confident and comfortable. Not to say I make it look pretty every time.
Nothing eventful happened until the end. Once we stopped at our check in, my bike was pouring gas out of the carburetor. We removed the carburetor and assume the float was stuck so we cleaned it up.
Right before we ended it appeared that Larry’s forks were broke. Sure enough when he pulled into the stop they checked them and they were cracked. It was located on the head of the frame.
Our stop at Westside Twins Motorcycle Co in Statesville NC. They called a guy in to weld for us. How amazing! They brought us into their huge air conditioned garage and let us take it over. Rocky (the welder) probably wasn’t expecting to be working on a 100+ year old motorcycle when he woke up this morning. His wife and daughter even stopped by! He also got called to come in to a different job - or asked if he had gotten to the job but said he will do it later, he gets to work on a 100+ year old motorcycle! We cannot put into words how grateful we are!
Mike ended up looking at his because his was shakey and his were loose- just needing tightening.
Just another shout out to Westside Twins Motorcycle Co -- they were so welcoming and so excited to see our bikes. They stayed late and all were so fantastic! I bet they have never had that many people in that garage before.

xoxo, breezy
